It was the first new RM50 (Ringgit Malaysia) I had received yesterday. I know the new RM50 announced a month ago in newspaper. I thought it was made by plastic like RM5 but still made by paper. Overall, the design of new RM50 looks very �Malay Traditional� feel, all the green color table fabric laces design appeared on the new RM50.

So, what is your comment about the new RM50? Prefer previous design better or the new one? (I still like the old design).

where u got that??..i still got few old rm50 notes,the only thing i like about the new note is the strip on the right side beside the feller,besides that the color looks more like rm1 note tho.i still prefer the old one as it has the element of luxury eventho itz juz rm50 but to me as a student thats a 5 days meal.

It is still 50 ringgit to me. I will prefer to keep an old one aside for collection purposes and just use the new one.
The back of the note looks abit…..cacat.
Its like a picture in another huge frame. I’d say it’ll look better if the picture is enlarge to the max!

Methinks I still prefer the old design.
They only made 4.9m (not sure whether it’s in amount or pieces). It’s a limited edition kind of note. last time got pre-order, RM60 per piece but now they decided to use the new notes.
cibol: This is not a limited edition RM50 note. You’ll see this RM50 note everywhere after CNY
honetsly, i prefer the previous RM50 notes. i think most of us does LOL

Haha. Whatever the design, I LIKE RM50 NOTES! I don’t really know what to comment on the design, but I wonder how long will that 50-years-old logo (marking Malaysia’s 50 years of independence) stay.

Ya, they should have made it like the RM5 note. Kalis air. Well, I don’t really mind any kind.. as long as it is authentic money. Speaking of which.. I expect it to become a big hit in terms of it being in the angpao this coming CNY. HAhaha..

Yeah, the back design is not very good. Also perhaps a “cyber” theme is better than the Kelapa Sawit one ??

I wonder if the color of the bunga merah will fade away, if it will, then those who like to put money in their shirt pocket, make sure you don’t go out during rainy days, cos your wife might suspect u having an affair after seeing the red stains here and there.

I posted about this but never actually got hold of one. I still think the bunga raya picture makes it look cheap… hmm, but i don’t remember seeing the kelapa sawit (at least not this design) the last time. All in all, the old RM50 note looks more expensive and RM50-like. This one looks like anyone could print one out. XD

Two days ago, I went to Public Bank to pay bills using the Cash Machine… there was a notice… Do Not Use… the new RM50 until further notice… I guess, they need to modify thier ATM/Cash Machine lah…

you can read this on page ‘malaysia ringgit’ in wikipedia and find this verse at side Third Series…
” According to Bank Negara, all paper notes will eventually be phased out and replaced by polymer notes.”

IMO, the old one looks a lot better. If they didn’t use plastic material for it, what’s the point of changing the design? BNM got too much $$$?
