I had mentioned about submitting your blog/sites to blog and a web directory was one of the methods to increase traffic.
What is web directory and blog directory?
A web directory is a compilation of sites organized by different topics. Whereby, Blog directory is a compilation of blogs organized by various topics.
Why I bother to submit it?
By submitting your blog to directory, it will count as a vote to increase your Page Rank (PR). However, if your blog URL doesn�t direct linking from a directory, the search engine (Google) won�t count it as a vote.
Before you want to submit your blog to these directories shown as below, make sure you provide Title, Description, URL, Email, Tags and Reciprocal URL (Where you put their URL on your site) about your blog.
Since directories are categorized by topics, a person might click their own interest to view your blog. Just because of your blog is one of their resources to them!!
There is a list of Blog Directories where you can submit your own blog when you free. These directories required reciprocal links (link exchange). Reciprocal means you�re required to link back to your site.

I’m not going to list out more reciprocal directories here because. You might wasted extra times to add directories links and banner to your blog. If you want to get list of FREE Directories links, just wait for my next post!

yeah your right to much reciprocal links could eat up some extra space on your site (they even sometimes difficult to load). do they really suspend your account if you failed to put their links? imagine how hundreds of site on their list would they find out if you ever remove their stuff :D.
rhyan: After you submitted your links to particular directory, they will manually check your blog before they approve your blog. Some of the directories will automatically detect your blog whether you had failed to put their links on your blog.
do this before lor. but ar.. most of it no reply me after i sent my link. out of 10 only 1 did. so.. =.=
I submit some of them and put the links in the footer
Wish to submit more but feel like no space for more 
so, just leave it there and not thinking to put them in the new layout 
I used to submit my blog to directories but hate my blog to be packed with those Reciprocal URL, it just makes my blog looks so ugly, besides they also won’t care about my submission since it’s free…

CincauHangus: I receive their mail. Some of the links they disapproved because I can’t mean their conditions like the blog less than 3 months old. I submitted my blogspot domain previously. It’s work to increase Google backlinks
